Studies say atheists, believers both do good, but for different reasons
This is a very interesting article which backs up my side of an ongoing debate with a religious friend of mine. Atheists are more intrinsically motivated to do good. This is because we think critically about ethics and come up with our own moral codes, rather than simply doing what we are told because we feel it is expected, out of fear of hell, or to garner our reputations.
I’ve always cited that a reason for being an atheist. Do you really need some fictitious third party to dictate what is wrong for you?
